Last week, we had beautiful weather. The kind of weather you dream about when a top priority is weeding and your days are spent with your hands in the ground. Below, some before and after shots of our first few rows of spring crops (peas, greens, and more).
While carefully looking at and interacting with the soil, it is impossible not to get up close and personal with the farm's pest population. With the chickens as partners, we've added a new layer to our efforts at controlling such foes: Find, collect, feed.
Recently planted: Nearly 3,000 potatoes, 10,000+ onions, sweet potatoes, and our first rounds of leeks and scallions.
Next to go in the ground: Tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, summer squash, melons...
Next to go up on the blog: Preparing for the first pick-ups!
