    Frequently Asked Questions

What do you mean by “naturally grown”?  Is Open Acres an organic farm?

While Open Acres is not a certified organic farm, everything that we grow is 100% natural. This means that there are no chemical or synthetic fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides used in our growing process.

Are members required to work on the farm?  Can I volunteer?

Working on the farm is not a requirement of CSA membership. However, extra hands are always welcome as there is plenty to be done throughout the growing season! If you are ever interested in volunteering, please contact us by email at openacres.csa@gmail.com or phone at 646.408.1844. You can also use the form at the left of this page to be in touch.

What happens if I go out of town and can't make a pick-up?

Members who will be away for a pick-up or longer have a few options when it comes to their shares: If you don't want to miss the share due to the scheduling conflict, we can easily switch your pick-up day with advanced notice. If you would rather send a friend or family member in your place to the pick-up, just send us an email or give a call to let us know who to expect on the day you are planning to be away. Alternatively, you may also choose to have your share included in our regular donation to the Doylestown Food Pantry.

What if I forget to pick up my share?

When shares are missed altogether, please know that they will not go to waste. The vegetables and fruits left behind will be part of a donation to the Doylestown Food Pantry, a partnership we are very happy to have in the community.
